ASU 27th Annual Summer Institute
Caring through the Chaos Presented by Sharon Bell, MSW Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 3:00 pm-4:30 pm
VoyagePhoenix.com
I was honored to be featured by VoyagePhoenix.com in their "Hidden Gems" series, which spotlights people doing meaningful, often under-the-radar work in the Phoenix community. In the interview, I shared the story behind Caretaker Coach — how seventeen-plus years of caring for my son through schizoaffective disorder turned into a mission to help other families skip years of confusion and isolation in the mental health system.
We talked about what it really looks like to advocate for an adult loved one with serious mental illness, why so few resources exist for caregivers specifically (as opposed to patients), and what I wish someone had told me when I was a scared mom with a 17-year-old in crisis.
Moments like this keep me going. If sharing my story helps even one family find their way to support faster than I did, every hard year was worth it. Read the full interview on VoyagePhoenix Hidden Gems: Meet Sharon Bell of Caretaker Coach - VoyagePhoenix - Phoenix

I am honored to be invited to speak at the NAMI 2024 California Annual Conference. Please join me while we discuss “Heartbroken and Happy.” The role of a caretaker can be full of disappointment, grief, and hardship. This presentation will inform caretakers, they can be all those things, AND still be happy.
